Watertown Ultimate Frisbee League games use the following format:
(NEW RULES IN CAPS)
|
|
|
-
Two 25-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime. If a disc is in the air at the end of the half, the play is continued until the disc is caught or hits the ground.
-
BEFORE EACH PULL, THE MEMBERS OF THE PULLING TEAM MUST BE IN THEIR OWN END ZONE. THEY MAY MOVE ANYWHERE IN THE END ZONE BEFORE THE PULL. MEMBERS OF THE RECEIVING TEAM MUST BE IN CONTACT WITH THE GOAL LINE OF THEIR END ZONE AND MAY NOT MOVE UNTIL THE DISC IS IN THE AIR.
-
THE RECEIVING TEAM MUST SIGNAL READINESS TO PLAY WITHIN 70 SECONDS AFTER THE PREVIOUS GOAL WAS SCORED. THE PULLING TEAM MUST RELEASE THE PULL WITHIN 20 SECONDS OF THE RECEIVING TEAM SIGNALING READINESS OR WITHIN 90 SECONDS OF THE PREVIOUS SCORE, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.
-
If a team attempts to catch a pull and drops it, possession will automatically go to the throwing team. If the pull lands out of bounds the receiving team may employ the "brick" or "middle" rules and begin their possession at a designated point in the center of the field. IF THE DISC LANDS IN THE END ZONE IT MUST BE PLAYED FROM WHERE IT LANDED. IF A DISC LANDS IN-BOUNDS AND THEN ROLLS OUT-OF-BOUNDS, IT IS PUT IN PLAY FROM THE POINT AT WHICH IT HIT THE GROUND.
-
Teams may play up to 7 players at a time but may not play with fewer than 2 on the field.
-
Substitutions can be made ONLY after one team scores or for an injured player. NO SUBSTITUTIONS ON THE FLY!!
-
Game play is fairly relaxed, with players calling their own fouls and using stall counts when necessary. A CONTESTED FOUL SIMPLY MEANS THAT THE OPPONENT DOES NOT AGREE WITH THE CALL AND THE PLAY IS TAKEN BACK TO THE SPOT OF THE PREVIOUS THROW.
-
A player must make a catch with the first point of contact after catching the disc being inbounds.(IN OTHER WORDS, ONE FOOT!) The player nearest the play should make the call.
-
There is no overtime during the regular season. The team with more points at the end of the game is the winner. Regular-season games may end in a tie. Playoff games that end in a tie will go into a 5-minute overtime period or periods as necessary.
-
THIS LEAGUE IS FOR PEOPLE TO STAY ACTIVE AND HAVE FUN!! PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AT ALL TIMES!! REMEMBER THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME!!
